We highly recommend sandwiching your photo between two pieces of corrogated cardboard inside a shipping envelope (one lined with plastic bubbles) at the very least. This is a very inexpensive, safe, and proven method for sending photos through the mail. It makes a strong, light package.
Which Mail Service to Use: At the very least, send your photos via Registered Mail. This will ensure that you can track your package and for an extra fee you get a return receipt confirming the delivery of the package. Federal Express is the most trusted and reliable way to send, however. Since insurance only pays the reprint cost of a photo, say $20, it does not really make sense to purchase insurance. Spend your money on the best delivery service and packaging instead. As long as you follow these guidelines, your photos should be safe.
